Coloured Canyon, Dahab and the Blue Hole
The ochre and mauve gorge near Nuweiba, then Dahab and the Blue Hole.
The excursion
The Coloured Canyon is a narrow gorge eight hundred metres long cut into sandstone whose oxidation gives it ochre, mauve and red bands. The walk takes about an hour and a half, with no technical difficulty but some narrow passages and steps to climb down. Back via the Blue Hole at Dahab, with lunch on a terrace by the water.
