The excursion
A combined tour of pharaonic and Graeco-Roman Egypt. A day in Cairo, a night there, then the road to Alexandria: the Kom el-Shoqafa catacombs, Pompey's Pillar, the corniche and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The contrast between the two cities is the point of the trip.
