Tiran Island by boat

Gordon, Jackson, Woodhouse: the legendary reefs of the strait, between Egypt and Arabia.

The excursion

The Strait of Tiran separates the Gulf of Aqaba from the Red Sea, and four coral reefs break the surface right in the channel. You anchor at Gordon Reef, facing the wreck of the Loullia, then at Jackson. Visibility is often over twenty-five metres, but the sea runs heavier than at Ras Mohammed — avoid it if you are prone to seasickness.
